Lomax at last catches up with Len Martin, the man who framed him, causing his prison sentence and eventual disgrace.
Lomax is coming closer to his accuser. A Fleet Street hack may be able to help, but most assistance comes from Lomax's girlfriend Maureen, who gives the name 'Len Martin', but Martin remains one step ahead.
Winter: Lomax, holed up in remote farmland, becomes a suspect in a rustling case. He meets up with an ex-cellmate, Granny Jackson, who gives him a lead to the real thieves.
Reunited with his son, Max and Steve have sailed downstream, where Max encounters a local businessman/gangster, during a game of snooker.
Lomax is working as a barman at a quiet country pub... Or so he thinks. He catches the eye of the local ladies who wine and dine, and also the attention of the local thugs. The latter decide to target the pub, the landlord and his wife, but they underestimate Max's resourcefulness to turn the tables.
Lomax is roped into looking after a country B&B when the owner is suddenly called away. The B&B only has two guests, a married couple; the husband is on a weekend prison pass, and his wife is mixing with some dodgy characters, with a plan to relieve her husband of certain ill-gotten gains.
Description
After completing a two-year prison sentence for a bribe he didn't take, former DI Alan Lomax wants answers. With at least one luxury left - a narrowboat, and it's on the canals, among the day trippers and travellers, that he means to seek revenge. Not an easy task for an ex-detective isolated on the wrong side of the law.
