A new morning breaks in Oberon and there is already 1 man awake. Dolf wants to get started and opens the hatch. He means well, but the others can't really appreciate his good intentions. They find him disrespectful because he doesn't just let them sleep. Fred in particular immediately expresses his frustrations.

Dark clouds are gathering over the realm of Oberon. There is unrest. Regent Dolf is called to account by councillor Zebardyn after his outburst the day before. Dolf refused to punish a nobleman for the fact that he himself had broken two laws. While the other nobles speculate about the sword of Damocles hanging over one of them, Dolf is given one last chance by Zebardyn to still make a choice for the punishment. His determination has made an impression. The other nobles fear for their fate and hope that Dolf will choose 'honourably' and go to the poorhouse himself.

This is how the new reality series Oberon begins. A story in which Councillor Zebardyn keeps his promise to the dying King and goes in search of a worthy successor. 16 Candidates have been invited to compete for the throne. They are all given the chance to conquer the necklace of pure gold, which is the absolute symbol of the Kingship of Oberon. We meet this select group of invitees, 16 men and women, when they are blindfolded and ready for the first test. And when the blindfold is removed, the candidates see each other for the first time. The test is a simple puzzle. Everyone is chained to a pole with rope and rings. In the middle of it, on a round wooden table, lies the beautiful gold chain. The first to free themselves from this puzzle may wear the chain, go to the castle and call themselves the first regent or regentess of Oberon. He or she thereby obtains absolute power.
