Denis and Jennifer aren't on speaking terms, causing a terrible atmosphere both in the office and at home. Even worse, two salesmen from a different department convince Denis that the best way to produce great sales figures is through lying.
Denis suffers from what his doctor terms a 'psychological blockage'. Overwhelmed by a lack of confidence, he's unable to close the deal in his working life — or in his relationship with Jennifer.
After a chance meeting with an unscrupulous alarm salesman, Denis decides to take on board some unethical practises and see if they work for him.
As promised, Jennifer lets Denis take her out for a meal to celebrate his first sale. But has Denis drank too much — and can he handle the consequences?
Denis continues to struggle through disastrous attempts to become a successful salesman, but his social life is picking up — Jennifer and Glenn offer the chance to flat share.
Description
The Hello Goodbye Man is a short-lived 1984 British sitcom, starring Ian Lavender as Denis Ailing, a nervous salesman struggling with his job and romantic life, particularly with his colleague Jennifer. The series follows his disastrous attempts to succeed, including using pep pills and adopting unethical sales tactics, leading to awkward social and professional situations.
