At the end of six weeks, each client must decide what to do with the staff's recommendation about going home or staying in treatment longer.
At family week, DeJuaii comes out to her mother, Elizabeth confronts her father's coldness, and Amy's family accuses her of playing the victim.
Family week is approaching and the clients are suffering anxiety. Layne's devastated that her family won't come, and Amy tries to let go of her anger.
Someone has relapsed, but finding out who needs the extra help is a challenge. Everyone thinks DeJuaii's constant joy is a defensive mask.
The group makes dolls of themselves as children to help them express their feelings. Amy's struggle leads to a crisis for her and the staff.
Tennie explains that addiction always goes back to childhood. On a field trip, clients photograph things that remind them of their higher power.
The real work begins as the clients settle in and begin facing their biggest fears. Tennie gently helps when Tinisha feels that she can't go on.

Description
Eight people with eating disorders struggle through a 42-day treatment program at Shades of Hope, an extremely difficult rehab center near Abilene, Texas. Maverick therapist Tennie McCarty uses unorthodox methods and a tough-love approach, asking her clients to confront the painful issues in their lives that have led them to use food as an escape.
